• To discuss the history and mission of the Autonomic Standards Committee
• To introduce revised recommendations and definitions
• To disseminate new ISAFSCI form and encourage panel discussion with audience participation
Initially published in 2007, the ISAFSCI underwent a revision in 2012 and has since gained traction in the clinical and research settings; however, widespread use is still limited. The Autonomic Standards committee recognizes the need to educate the community of clinicians and scientists regarding the importance of documenting the level of autonomic control of various organ systems such as the cardiovascular, urinary bladder, bowel motility, sexual and reproductive sudomotor and thermoregulatory. The expert panel of presenters will discuss relevant empirical evidence supporting the revised recommendations and definitions in conjunction with a didactic tutorial regarding the use of the ISAFSCI in the clinical and research settings.
